wants a fireplace in their house. It looks stylish, plus it adds a special cosiness to the house. There\’s just something about it that still evokes the comfort of home.
Today\’s smoke is colder than it was in the First Republic. Why? Mainly because of the hard fuels, which have a different chemical composition and also a different combustion temperature and combustion time. That\’s because whereas once everyone didn\’t care, today everyone wants to save where they can. And also on heating. So the heat that comes out of the fireplace should transfer as much heat as possible to its surroundings, i.e. to the rest of the house.

Which chimney liner to use?
We usually try to make sure that everything lasts for “the next generation”, that is, that things like chimneys last at least fifty years. Most Czechs choose the chimney liner made of fireclay. But you have to take into account that with the changing standards for chimneys and combustion, it is possible that when you get new appliances, you will no longer be able to connect them to a chamotte liner, especially if the new appliances need to operate at higher humidity and lower temperature.
Although Czechs still choose the chamotte liner, experts agree on the isostatic liner. This not only lasts longer but provides much better protection. It is also safer and is likely to work in higher humidity conditions.
How to get insurance?
We all have property and home insurance against all sorts of things. But don\’t forget about the dangers of appliances, or if a fire were to start from a fireplace – or as a result of a malfunctioning chimney.
